Non-Executive Director, Private SME

Sherrington has been asked to support a North West based engineering business to help them appoint a Non Executive Director to the business.

The business is a family-owned, family-run engineering business, providing engineering services to a number of markets but mainly the maritime and energy sectors. Having grown organically since its inception over a decade ago, it has enjoyed year on year growth despite challenging market conditions. Having strengthened their senior team through a number of key appointments in recent times, the shareholders are considering their position in the market and their long-term exit plan. As such they look to appoint a Non Executive Director to support them in defining their strategy moving forward and to provide expertise in financial management and modelling ahead of sale plans in the future.

We are looking to recruit a highly accomplished NED with a proven track record of helping family-owned SME's scale up and ultimately exit, preferably from within an engineering services or manufacturing setting. The likely candidate will probably have several other non-exec appointments currently running, some of which may complement this assignment through their synergy in remit and scope and should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for supporting small to medium sized engineering businesses in a senior strategic and financial capacity. Above all, the candidate will need the right cultural fit with the organisation, in particular with the shareholders and the senior team.

The assignment will require the successful candidate to commit to between two to three days per month at the company's head office in the North West for a minimum two year tenure. An excellent remuneration package is on offer for the successful candidate.

This would suit a locally based ex Finance Director or MD with a track record in NED consultancy in a related sector. Interviews will be held throughout the month of June. For a confidential discussion please email your CV to info@sherringtonassociates.co.uk
