Sherrington Associates is proud to be the retained search partner for Bilfinger UK in its search for a Regional Operations Director.

Bilfinger UK is a highly successful and rapidly growing business that supports industrial services customers across the oil & gas, energy & power, nuclear and chemical / pharmaceutical sectors, enhancing the efficiency of assets, ensuring a high level of availability and reducing maintenance costs. It aims to be the trusted engineering and services partner of choice, delivering intelligent solutions to blue chip clients in process industries across the UK. A clear strategy to move from Service Provider to Maintenance Partner, backed by the considerable strength and technology from its European base, is already bearing fruit as its capabilities present a unique offering in the UK. Its services cover all life cycle phases, from planning and design through to development and construction, as well as commissioning, maintenance, modification and decommissioning. With a highly skilled workforce of over 2,000 employees operating from eight UK offices, Bilfinger UK upholds the highest standards of safety, compliance and quality. Bilfinger UK consistently focuses on the individual needs of its clients. It has both the means and the skills needed to offer precise, tailored solutions of various scales. In this regard, it relies on the diversity of its skills across the business.

Following the recent merger between Runcorn-based Bilfinger Industrial Services and Newton-Le-Willows-based Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services earlier this year, Bilfinger has created a new £180m+ turnover business providing an extensive suite of services and solutions for customers in its core markets. The merger is part of a strategy driven by Bilfinger SE Group, the firm’s global parent company, to strengthen the company structure in North West Europe and integrate its operations to ensure that clients have access to a broad range of expertise and capabilities. The merger will also support Bilfinger UK’s diversification and growth strategy as it targets new markets for its services.

"The challenges facing British industry are becoming increasingly complex and management teams are looking for unified, multidisciplinary support through the life-span of their assets, from design and build to operations and maintenance. The merger follows a decade of acquisitions and building Bilfinger's operations in the UK. The creation of Bilfinger UK consolidates that offering and creates a unified proposition to respond to market demand. It will enable us to not only strengthen our existing presence in our traditional markets of oil & gas and utilities, but also better target growth across the power, chemical and energy sectors."

The merger has also been the catalyst behind the decision to move to brand new offices in Birchwood, Warrington in October and the recent implementation of a new state-of-the-art IT system. The business is investing heavily in digitalisation of products, services and new technologies to its customers to drive internal efficiency and to stay ahead of its competition. These investments support ambitious growth plans for Bilfinger’s uniquely positioned combined services model, which continues to garner interest from customers across a broad range of sectors.

To further strengthen the operational delivery capability of the MMO business, Bilfinger now looks to appoint a Regional Operations Director to manage a high-value portfolio of work within its UK business. Working as part of an established team of five ROD’s, the newly appointed ROD will run all operational activity across multiple contracts within their region, ranging from fixed-price maintenance work, major shutdowns and turnaround projects, right through to project management and consultancy work. Supporting the commercial growth of their region underpinned by exemplary operational delivery, the ROD will be fully P&L accountable and will lead on all aspects of business management, including tendering, business development, project initiation, HSE management, financial budgeting and people development. This is a senior leadership role, helping set the strategy, define the culture and drive the direction of Bilfinger in the UK. Most importantly, the successful candidate will be a high-performing team player, capable of contributing to the wider operational team goals and targets. The opening presents a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial and autonomous operations leader capable of supporting Bilfinger’s growth ambitions through their innovative and effective operational delivery of Bilfinger’s full-service offering.
