Sherrington Associates has successfully completed a challenging retained search assignment to appoint a new Director of Production for award-winning jewellery brand Brown & Newirth.
Manufacturing luxury engagement, wedding and eternity rings here in the UK, for almost 50 years, Brown & Newirth has designed and handcrafted some of the most elegant pieces available at the premium end of the jewellery market from its workshop in Hertfordshire. Following a departure from the previous Thai-owned Abbeycrest Group in 2012, the business was bought out by private investment group Medusa Holdings, which has an eclectic portfolio of lucrative SME businesses across a range of market sectors. Sherrington is proud to have supported Medusa and Brown & Newirth since the start.
At a pivotal time in the organisation's growth story, in late 2017, Brown & Newirth contacted Sherrington Associates to support the firm as its retained executive search partner with this crucial appointment to the senior leadership team. Looking to recruit an exceptionally strong senior operations and production leader with experience within a successful branded jewellery business, the successful candidate would require strong knowledge of the intricate production processes associated with fine handcrafted jewellery, as well a commercial operations background that could support the development of the business over the coming years.
A highly targeted search was carried out to identify, attract, assess and select experienced candidates from within the jewellery industry and relevant adjacent sectors, where similar skills could be found. Sherrington undertook painstaking research to identify candidates worthy of approaching, before carrying out a series of confidential approaches to engage interest in the opening. Following an exhaustive search and selection exercise, a shortlist was presented to the client and interviews were carried out, culminating in a highly experienced candidate with many years' jewellery-sector experience being appointed.
