Sherrington Associates has been appointed as the retained executive search partner for leading materials recovery and waste recycling company Papilo. Backed by B Corp private equity investment house Palatine, Papilo are on an exciting journey of organic growth and M&A activity and are now looking to appoint two key positions to the organisation.

Papilo

Papilo is a new group of innovative materials recovery and recycling companies, headquartered in Manchester with a European presence. Following their investment by B Corp investment outfit Palatine Private Equity in 2023, the business has undertaken a strategic repositioning ahead of embarking on an ambitious buy and build programme which has seen three exciting acquisitions completed in the last two years.

The first new addition completed in June 2025 with the acquisition of the specialist agricultural landspreading division of award-winning Silverwoods Waste Management Ltd in Lancashire. Boosting group revenues by £5m and broadening Papilo’s service offering, this streategic deal was the beginning of an exciting M&A journey for the group.

Then in February 2026, Papilo completed the purchase of Allwood Recycling Solutions, a total-waste-management outfit specialising in the distribution and logistics sectors and dealing with over 150,000 tonnes of material annually. This saw Papilo grow to annual revenues exceeding £60m with over 200 employees.

Then as recently as April 2026, a third acquisition was completed for Scottish TWM firm REKK based near Glasgow, further enhancing Papilo’s UK coverage and their ability to support clients to take a more responsible approach to resource management.

Now with new CEO Mike Gibson who joined in April 2026, Papilo are primed to continue their growth journey, starting with the appointment of an experienced Head of Marketing to help develop a long-term marketing strategy that will build the brand presence across key sectors in the UK and overseas, and a tech-savvy Executive Assistant to support the CEO and executive team through this phenomenally exciting journey of positive environmental impact and growth.
