Joe Onions, Executive Search Resourcer at Sherrington Associates has reached the finals of the Young Business Person of the Year Award in the prestigious High Sherriff's Awards for Enterprise.
Joe joined Sherrington Associates in November 2021 following a career in property. Working exceptionally hard to deliver a diverse range of retained executive search mandates for our clients over the last eighteen months, Joe's passion and enthusiasm for building a career in the business has made a positive impact and deserved to be recognised.
Since joining, Joe's work ethic, honesty and genuine passion to make a positive impact in the world have been inspiring to witness.Joe has immersed himself into the world of executive recruitment and recently completed a course on Sustainable Leadership with the University of Chester in July.
Last March Joe's passion for sustainability was the driver behind a personal fundraising effort when he raised over £600 for Chester Zoo's 'Race for the Rainforest' campaign by climbing the UK's three peaks in 24 hours.
In April Joe represented Sherrington Associates in parliament at Better Business Day, along with a small number of CEO's from high profile local businesses including Sykes Cottages, lobbying MP's to amend the Section 172 of the Companies Act, mandating directors to align people, planet and profit equally within their articles of association by approving the Better Business Act.
Despite recruiting in very challenging conditions, Joe went the extra mile throughout 2022, working late to deliver on client expectations, even working weekends. His efforts have not gone unnoticed and Sherrington committed to invest in Joe's education through 2023. Joe completed a Certificate in Culture Diagnostics with Barrett Values Centre earlier this year enabling him to support our work diagnosing organisational culture ahead of senior level recruitment projects.
Whilst the overall prize went to Tolulope Arobieke for his work building innovative lettings business YourGaff, Joe was thrilled to achieve second place in such a prestigious awards competition.
