Founded in 1922 in Rome, Italy, the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) began as a specialised arm of the International Co-Operative Alliance to facilitate networking and knowledge-sharing across purpose-driven insurers around the globe.

As a membership organisation, the Federation’s mission is to help its member companies achieve their strategic goals and sustainably grow in their local markets. Focusing on the key areas of mutuality, business transformation and resilience, ICMIF’s networking and business intelligence activities leverage the knowledge, competencies and experience of its global network of member-owned and purpose-led insurance companies across 60+ countries. Through its influence work, ICMIF represents the interests of global mutual/cooperative sector – accounting for 26.3% of the global insurance market – to key stakeholders around the themes of disaster risk reduction, sustainable development and inclusive insurance.


Deputy Chief Membership Officer

As ICMIF moves in 2026, a requirement to recruit a new Deputy Chief Membership Officer has arisen. The role will report into ICMIF’s Chief Membership Officer, support ICMIF's work connecting mutuals globally, ensuring the Federation’s member value proposition inspires and assists member companies to achieve their strategic goals and grow sustainably in their local markets.

The Deputy CMO is responsible for member engagement, growth, and retention across ICMIF’s global network and provides supportive strategic leadership for the delivery of its range of events, networks, communications, research, and member-only resources. The role also oversees membership operations, brand and narrative management, and contributes to executive decision-making and organisational strategy.

This is a newly created position within an exciting and ambitious organisation that is constantly looking for new ways to create collaborative and knowledge sharing opportunites for its members. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate high-level relational skills to cultivate productive and collaborative relations with C-level stakeholders in global insurance companies, as well as the emotional intelligence to deliver improved member engagement and attraction. The industry is constantly changing so this person would need to be adaptable and capable of learning quickly, as well as having a strong interest in global issues affecting the insurance industry, with a keen focus on innovation and ideally some interest or experience in behavioural science.

We are open to considering candidates from a wide range of consultative, relationship-management and strategic engagement backgrounds, however particular interest will be given to candidates coming from the insurance or financial services industries, professional services and advisory sectors, sustainability consultancy or experience from within another relevant member-led industry body.


Remuneration
