Posted on 20th March 2025 | Vacancies

Following a successful retained search campaign earlier this year to recruit a new Managing Director for leading regional care provider Amore Group, Sherrington Associates is once again the appointed search partner this time to appoint a new Finance Director.

Amore Group

Founded in 2018, Amore Group is now a leading regional player in the health and social care sector with an excellent growth record in recent years and a five-year vision to scale the group, with some subsidiaries expecting quadruple growth.

Group Structure:

Amore Social Care: A quality-driven provider of agency care work, supplying staffing solutions throughout the North West region to support vulnerable adults and children to realise their life goals. (Revenues of £3.4m)

Amore Complex Care: A regulated CQC-provider of activities and supported living services to adults and children with a range of complex needs including mental health needs, autism, challenging emotional behaviours, acquired brain injuries and learning disabilities. (Revenues of £10.5m)

Sure Step Support Services: Operating an Ofsted-registered children’s care home in Woolton, Liverpool with plans to quadruple over the next five years, beginning with two new homes in 2025.

Next Steps Services: Providing a range of support services and day-to-day living services for those young people taking the step towards independent living. Revenues expected to double over the coming years.

Finance Director

As a regional health and social care provider, we are now looking to appoint an experienced Finance Director to oversee the Amore Group portfolio in the North West region whilst also supporting the current owners with adjacent investment opportunities. The role will combine two key elements, firstly overseeing the financial team to continually improve the internal finance structures within a heavily regulated environment. Secondly, this person would work closely with the business owners in identifying, scrutinising and advising on potential investment opportunities enabling the surplus within Amore to achieve a greater return.

The ideal candidate will already be an experienced and knowledgeable Finance Director providing analytical perspective and financial council to the board or ownership. We also remain open to considering strong leadership candidates from adjacent sectors where new perspectives on key challenges can be acquired.

A strong financial leadership background in the care sector will be highly advantageous however, in particular any experience of having operated in a heavily regulated environment, such as a CQC regulated organisation. The ideal candidate will have worked with a Board previously, or have reported directly into one, and will have the ability to effectively communicate and execute strategy.

The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic and observant leader with a clear moral compass operating with honesty and integrity. This position is considered one which requires the upmost trust and will require a close relationship with the owners to be established so advice on key strategic elements of the business along with additional investment opportunities can be discussed candidly.

Leadership Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a financial leadership role in either the care sector or another regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and leading finance teams, and playing a lead role as part of a senior management team, in developing and successfully executing winning growth strategies.

Leadership Competencies:

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Personal Characteristics:

  • Demonstrates high levels of integrity – always.
  • Acts with kindness, empathy and understanding for all stakeholders
  • Works collaboratively
  • Fosters an inclusive and empowering working environment
  • Commercially-minded and thinks long-term
  • Builds trust through both character and competence

Qualifications:

  • Ideally CIMA, ACCA or equivalent accreditation
  • Examples of other professional development

Remuneration

A basic salary of between £80,000 - £90,000 per annum is available for the successful candidate, as well as the following company benefits:

  • Car Allowance: £6,000 pa
  • Holidays: 30 days pa
  • Pension: 5% contributions, rising with service
