Greater Manchester Moving (GM Moving) is the Active Partnership for Greater Manchester. We are a charity with a clear purpose to change lives through movement, physical activity and sport. We lead, support and connect people and partners across the system to develop and deliver on the whole system vision and approach to the shared GM Moving in Action strategy.
As the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for leading and creating a strong financial management culture within the organisation and working alongside the Strategic Director and the Audit and Risk committee to set the long-term strategic finance direction and maintaining the performance of GM Moving’s financial performance and sustainability.
Remit:
- Overall responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the charity's finances and financial systems and controls
- Management of cash flow including ensuring robust internal controls
- Effective management of staff monthly salaries in conjunction with external agencies (Trafford Council, HMRC, Greater Manchester Pension Fund).
- Working with external auditors on statutory accounts and annual audit.
- Maintaining relationships with external organisations and investors.
- Managing, leading and developing the finance team.
Head of Finance:
We are looking for an exceptionally capable finance leader with a strong and diverse background in all aspects of financial management and oversight. The successful candidate will bring a demonstrable track record in managing a busy finance department within either a public, private or third sector environment. Knowledge and experience of charity sector accounting and third sector governance will be highly advantageous, however candidate with experience of operating within other highly-regulated financial environments will be considered.
The successful candidate will be a fully-qualified accountant with membership of a recognised accounting institute. They should be able to evidence up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial legislation, accounting conventions and best practice and have strong team-leadership experience. Versatile and effective communication skills are essential, as the Head of Finance will work closely with colleagues, Board Members and a range of external agencies. Experience of overseeing a range of complex external investments and interpreting and communicating complex data is essential.

Remuneration & Benefits:
Basic salary - up to £55,788
Annual leave - 29 days + bank holidays
Pension - 25% contributory scheme (in addition to employee contributions)
