Deputy Head of Practice - Confidential Legal Client
Sherrington Associates are the retained search partner for large and highly-established independent law firm based near South Manchester, looking to appoint a new Deputy Head of Practice.
With responsibilities in completing the conversion of enquiries into new business, alongside developing new business through creating a network, the successful candidate will need to be an experienced senior manager in the legal services sector with a positive and resilient outlook. You will need to be client-focused with administration experience to lead the next phase of growth within the organisation. You will need to be a 'team player', bringing the best out of junior team members and help to enhance to already positive culture. The ability to work accurately in a pressurised environment is fundamental to this role.
Your Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivery of a first class client experience
- Answering and responding to enquiries via telephone, email and our website
- Build and develop key relationships to enhance the workflow and scale the department
- Helping to maintain existing client relationships through effective communication
- Transferring of clients’ records efficiently and accurately to the legal departments
Key Performance Indicators:
- Deliver a 360 role of business development and delivery of cases with support from the team
- Work closely with the Head of Department to support the achievement of strategic objectives
- Demonstrate initiative and proactivity in handling tasks
- Contribute to achieving the firm's objectives through your performance.
Experience:
We are looking for a self-motivated and ambitious solicitor with around two years post qualification experience in a similar post although this requirement can be reconsidered dependent upon your circumstances. Appropriate training and support will be provided.
Skills:
- High level of accurate data input, data management and word processing skills
- Build an effective and efficient new business pipeline
- Previous legal secretarial experience would be beneficial but full training will be provided
- Experience of dealing with enquires via phone, email and in person
- Ability to demonstrate close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities during intensive and busy periods
- Ability to independently see tasks through to completion, within agreed timescales
- Communicate clearly, openly and effectively with authority to both clients and colleagues
- Develop and maintain professional relationships
- Work well under pressure

Remuneration:
A generous basic salary circa £55,000 per annum (depending on experience) and will enjoy progression in line with performance.
25 days + Bank Holidays 3% contributory pension 10% of all income post threshold (threshold to be determined
