On Wednesday 8th November, Sherrington's Managing Director Rob McKay and Head of FSL Joe Onions, visited long-term client Fera Science (formerly The Food & Environment Research Agency) for their annual science symposium.

Celebrating a successful recruitment partnership over the last twelve months, the team met Fera's Growth Director Wendy Martindale and recently appointed members of the business development and proposals team, recruited by Joe Onions.

Fera is a UK research organisation founded in 2015 as a joint private/public venture between Capita and the UK Government (Defra). Their purpose is to support and develop a sustainable food chain, a healthy natural environment, and to protect the global community from biological and chemical risks.

From their Biotech Campus in York the organisation boasts some of the countries most talented scientists and their annual symposium is an opportunity for them to come together and hear about some of the incredible projects the organisation is currently leading on.

With opening remarks from Fera's CEO Andrew Swift, as well as Co-Founder of The Eden Project Sir Tim Smit, the team were privileged to hear from a range of Fera's scientists about projects including The England Ecosystem Survey: a pioneering project project to assess England's terrestrial environment, as well as a project to target insect-microbe symbiosis in crop pests.

Fera continue to be an important client for Sherrington Associates and we look forward to working with them again through 2024 as they grow their teams to make a greater impact in the world.
