Sherrington recruits key roles for climate-conscious clients…

In 2019 Sherrington worked with an executive coach to redefine our organisational purpose. Our previous ‘optimising leadership’ just didn’t feel impactful enough given the scale of escalating environmental crises and we wanted to do more. So we made it our mission to use our work positively impact our client’s culture by recruiting and developing leaders with the requisite qualities for sustainable leadership. Our new purpose ‘Influencing Sustainable Leadership’ was born.

Since then we’ve made it our mission to work with more and more clients who are genuinely committed to sustainability and tackling the climate crisis. We’re thrilled to have been retained by a range of new clients in 2022. Here’s some of our recent projects…

Chief Executive Officer - The British Hydropower Association

The British Hydropower Association (BHA) is the leading trade membership association solely representing the interests of the UK hydropower industry (from micro to large scale) and its associated stakeholders in the wider community, both in the UK and overseas. Having recruited the outgoing CEO eight years ago, the BHA returned to engage our support to recruit a new CEO following the resignation of Simon Hamlyn, who leaves to become the new CEO of The Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors.

For the BHA to take advantage of a unique moment in time for the renewable energy sector, Sherrington was retained to appoint a new CEO to develop and execute a new strategy to positively influence conditions for the hydropower and tidal sectors over the next decade. Engaging candidates with a strong policy leadership background so as to influence political stakeholders, over the summer we engaged with senior leaders from a diverse range of trade bodies across the UK. The transition to renewables has never been more important so we were delighted to carry out this search for the BHA. Chief Executive Officer – Changing Lives Together

Changing Lives Together is a registered charity and social enterprise in Cheshire delivering crucial support to communities and vulnerable people. The charity delivers a number of local authority logistics contracts for community transport and furniture waste collection and also runs a number of retail outlets offering discounted furniture and white goods for low income residents and a busy food hub which has been a crucial lifeline throughout the pandemic and as the cost of living crisis unfolds. CLT's electric and white goods recycling solutions also provide a circular solution for the communities of Cheshire, a crucial service in the context of rising volumes of electrical waste.

Following the departure of Mike Jenkins who joined as CEO following the inception of the organisation in 2019, Sherrington were appointed in June to recruit a new Chief Executive Officer. Requiring a strong commercial leader with a passion for delivering impact on CLT’s charitable objectives, the CEO will lead the charity through a new chapter of growth against a backdrop of post-pandemic poverty and increasing demand in the wake of the cost of living crisis. After a thorough search with lots of interest from charity CEO’s across the region, in July we successfully secured the appointment of a new CEO with experience of both private and third sector leadership, who joins the charity in September.
