Versatile and long-lasting, concrete buildings and structures are in many ways ideal for climate-resilient construction. But concrete has a colossal carbon footprint — at least 8% of global emissions caused by humans come from the cement industry alone (nature.com 2021). This is simply not sustainable.
Part of the DB Group, part-owned by Grosvenor Estate’s private equity company Wheatsheaf, Cemfree is a revolutionary sustainable concrete product that will revolutionise the construction sector over the next decade. Cemfree zero-cement designed concrete is a practical sustainable solution for today’s construction industry. Cemfree activates 100% ground blast furnace slag (GGBS) producing an ultra-low carbon alternative to concrete mix designs that traditionally use Portland cement. Cemfree is an innovative and viable solution to reducing the carbon legacy of concrete, the world’s most widely used construction material.
Having been the retained search partner for DB Group since their acquisition by Wheatsheaf in 2015, Sherrington have supported with the successful recruitment of several key senior positions over the last seven years. Following on from a successful campaign to recruit a General Manager for their structural waterproofing business Pudlo in late 2021, Sherrington were recently retained by the group to appoint a new General Manager for Cemfree.
Responsible for full P&L leadership of the Cemfree business and tasked with significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the concrete sector by significantly scaling the business over the next decade, this is a hugely exciting opportunity for the right leader. Sherrington are currently recruiting for this post and are looking to talk to highly ambitious and entrepreneurial leadership candidates who want to play a role in decarbonising the construction sector by scaling the growth of this groundbreaking R&D.
Sherrington are also recruiting two key business development positions for DB Group, both requiring driven and ambitious sales candidates with a proven record in construction sales who want to make a difference.
