Postponement of Sherrington Autumn Reception

Posted on 6th October 2020 | Sherrington News

For three years Sherrington has been proud to host its flagship annual event, The Autumn Reception. The event is a coming together of senior leaders from around the region and a celebration of the incredible leadership talent in the North West, with high profile speakers and over 100 guests in attendance each year.

The inaugural Autumn Reception was held at Booth Mansion in September 2017, where Jamie Christon COO of Chester Zoo, Cllr Razia Daniels Lord Mayor of Chester and Commander Ian Millen (RN retrd) spoke to guests about the importance of investing in top-level talent for the region.

The 2018 event was even bigger, this time hosted on the top-floor Abode Hotel in Chester overlooking the city skyline. Speakers included former CEO of MBNA and CEO of Appreciate Group Ian O'Doherty and CEO of Marketing Cheshire Katrina Michel, this time discussing 'the executive talent landscape' in the region. The event raised £500 for Chester Women's Aid.

By 2019 the event was established and we returned to the Abode once more to discuss 'life and death leadership', listening to the harrowing yet inspiring tale of Paul Rowlands, the former firefighter whose life was saved by his 13 year old son after a kayaking trip off the coast of Anglesey went badly wrong, earning Joe the Queen's Award for Bravery. The event raised £550 for the RNLI.

It is with great sadness therefore that due to the restrictions imposed by government due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 event will be postponed. We are currently assessing the viability of a Spring event in 2021 and will announce nearer the time. In the meantime, we thank all our past guests and speakers for their support and look forward to welcoming you again soon. We had planned for the event to raise funds for 'Race for the Rainforest', our project in collaboration with Chester Zoo to reforest natural habitat in Borneo, a cause which has become even more important since the pandemic began. If anyone would like to donate to the cause you can do so below. Until next time....
