Director of Business Development
The Brief
Langley Alloys are a privately owned manufacturer of highly specialised alloys for use in a range of different applications in oil and gas, marine and maritime, petrochemicals and industrial sectors. Having diversified their markets in recent years, they retained Sherrington Associates to help them find and recruit a strategic Business Development Director with a strong technical background in metallurgy to work with the technical team to develop new products to open new strategic markets primarily in the UK, Asia and the US.
The Search
After an extensive search across the alloys and specialist metals industries, Sherrington compiled a shortlist of senior metallurgists all with strategic sales and marketing backgrounds and experience of new market development in international territories. The assessment stage was highly detailed, assessing all candidates on a complex blend of hard and soft skills including strategic business development leadership, technical metallurgy aptitude and above all a cultural alignment with Langley’s unique culture and values.
The Result
